It is ironic that Dr Martin Luther King made his I Have A Dream speech 49 years ago, which he stated that all humans regardless of race should be guaranteed the “Unalienable Rights” of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Sadly, America is back to the same place with the current economic crisis plaguing the 99%.
All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem. __Martin Luther King Jr.
Progress was made along racial lines but at the same time big corporations and the filthy rich, (1%) continue to grow and suffocate the poor (99%). The more things change, the more it stays the same and eventually get worse. The situation is the same but wears a different suit; it is more complicated and in the form of social class. Somehow, a lot of the same people who suffered under racial injustices in the 60s are suffering the most in this current economic abyss … along with new groups of economically oppressed people. While politicians in Washington waste time and disagree, then go home to their Georgetown residents and play golf with their filthy rich wall street friends, the rest of us, the 1% suffer.
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom. __Martin Luther King, Jr.
