It is ironic that Dr Martin Luther King made his I Have A Dream speech  49 years ago, which he stated that all humans regardless of race should be guaranteed the “Unalienable Rights” of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Sadly, America is back to the same place with the current economic crisis plaguing the 99%.

All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us face to face with another problem. __Martin Luther King Jr.

Progress was made along racial lines but at the same time big corporations and the filthy rich, (1%) continue to grow and suffocate the poor (99%). The more things change, the more it stays the same and eventually get worse. The situation is the same but wears a different suit; it is more complicated and in the form of social class. Somehow, a lot of the same people who suffered under racial injustices in the 60s are suffering the most in this current economic abyss … along with new groups of economically oppressed people. While politicians in Washington waste time and disagree, then go home to their Georgetown residents and play golf with their filthy rich wall street friends, the rest of us, the 1% suffer.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom. __Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday is the eve of Occupy Congress, Tuesday Jan. 17th, 2012. It is the time for all of us to rise up and let Washington know that we are willing to OCCUPPY until there is some kind of resolution. TAX the RICH!!!

A man who won’t die for something is not fit to live. __ Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr King would want us to go to Washington D.C. Lets Occupy Congress on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Happy Dr King Holiday!

  1. WiseFather says:

A great MLK quote to enjoy today: “The contemporary tendency in our society is to base our distribution on scarcity, which has vanished, and to compress our abundance into the overfed mouths of the middle and upper classes until they gag with superfluity. If democracy is to have breadth of meaning, it is necessary to adjust this inequity. It is not only moral, but it is also intelligent. We are wasting and degrading human life by clinging to archaic thinking.”

At http://www.ragingwisdom.com/?p=600, I look at more from the same chapter and share some thoughts they raise about today’s debate over increasing wealth inequality.
